Injecting ingenuity into electric vehicle repair
Axle Mobility / 6 Min read / Sustainability Stories
Electrification is disrupting the world over, but it’s also having a huge impact on the services around vehicles. As EVs revolutionise the global automotive market, numerous countries have embarked on substantial initiatives to promote EV adoption and diminish their dependence on traditional fossil fuel-powered vehicles. Powering that change are companies like Axle Mobility — the repair industry’s answer to electrification.
As the market is rapidly evolving towards electric, 90% of fleets and service providers have said they feel unprepared to navigate the new technologies emerging on the complex compliance landscape.
Axle is using technology to make repairs more efficient — reducing downtime for fleets, increasing earnings for our service provider network, while helping accelerate the transition to a cleaner planet. By building online and in-person training, this newcomer is providing fleets and service providers meet their educational needs through a fully services online platform, enabling both sides of the customer-provider relationship to easily measure their progress, gain trusted credentials and share knowledge with others across the industry.

“With a strong sense of nostalgia, we were aware we had to be careful not to ‘scare off’ customers with talk of change. Ubuntu helped us to communicate our services in a simple way, yet ensured we had a website that didn’t undersell our value. We couldn’t be happier!”
What makes Axle special, are the people behind the platform. Former fleet managers, technicians and technologists, they all share the same goal of building an aftermarket company where everybody wins.
Coming out of stealth mode, Axle wanted to make sure that their brand was up to scratch and they had a lead-generation engine built that could plug new business interest to their growing team.
Having gained a reputation for helping electrify brands key to the EV revolution, it was no surprise that Axle turned to Ubuntu for help. Currently undergoing a rebrand internally, the company was looking for assistance in launching a website that would help to better communicate their bleeding-edge solutions in a clear, concise and professional manner, while maintaining a sense of the ‘old-school’ nostalgia that still resonates with their target buyers.
Ubuntu began the process by running proprietary strategy workshops with the Axle leadership team, helping to tease out the objectives and goals of the business, and align those with core capabilities the new website must offer. With a clear plan and excitement from the team, Ubuntu were able to execute a killer strategic proposition that would underpin not only the website, but all tactical applications across Axle’s sales and operations teams.
Building on the key strategic insights, the design of the new site was then relatively simple. As ensuring all visual elements were perfectly aligned to the vision and the nostalgic flare, the design team created a simple yet effective user flow to ensure everything from the language, to content, to call to actions were accessible to both fleets and service providers, and worked well for a diverse workforce that often switches between their phone and desktops.
Only going live a few weeks ago, the results of the partnership are already paying dividends, with metrics showing increased reach and click-throughs from referral channels despite no active campaigns being run to-date. Ubuntu and Axle are in discussion around future projects, and we’re expecting great things from this challenger brand!
