Workforce flexibility has been a hot topic for a number of years now. The advent of the gig economy, coupled with a desire for more flexible workstyles from workers, the typical 9-to-5 has gone out the window. Gig and Take saw the opportunity to help businesses transform the way they managed their factory workforces and unlock new, diverse talent pools at the same time.
The gig economy has dramatically transformed the way many people in the US — and around the world — work today, with a growing number of workers seeking flexible, temporary, or part-time arrangements.

As a result, many businesses are turning to flexible workforces to meet their changing needs, with an increasing number of companies using a mix of permanent and temporary workers to create greater agility. Today, there are 41 million independent workers in the US, representing 31% of the country's workforce. 44% of businesses plan to increase their use of flexible workers over the next two to three years, and 62% of businesses believe that such workers are important or very important to their success.

In response, Gig and Take have developed a software solution enabling factories to offer flexible, modular and accessible schedules based on their needs. With a modern interface through a web-based application, the tool allows factories to set up flexible work schedules and attract the right level of talent to reduce costs and unnecessary overheads. Workers can then access those schedules, and apply for roles that meet their specific needs.

Gig and Take sought the assistance of Ubuntu to create and launch a brand identity that would appeal to both businesses and workers in need of flexible hiring solutions. The aim was to develop a brand aesthetic that would help businesses address the challenge of hiring and scheduling shifts for modern workers, while also enabling workers to access a more flexible job market.

Ubuntu began the rebranding process by building on, and enhancing the existing brand aesthetic — creating a more appropriate colour palette and design style that could be used across various mediums and assets. The team opted for a deep blue and electric orange combination that gave the brand an energizing and vibrant feel, appealing to both workers and factories, while still retaining the professional and industrial atmosphere.

As a new entrant in the market, Gig and Take needed to position its business for both customers and investors. A crucial aspect of this was to create a website that could explain the value the company offered to factories and workers and demonstrate how it could help resolve the increasingly prevalent issue in the US. Ubuntu responded by quickly developing a fully-functional website within a few weeks, providing a central hub from which the start-up could confidently engage with the industry.
"The modern workforce is rapidly evolving, making it hard to hire and fill shift schedules...we flip that on its head."
To support the launch, Ubuntu also extended the brand across critical marketing and sales channels, including animations, illustrations, one-pager overviews, and videos to assist in engagement and sales activities.

We have already received incredible feedback and seen promising initial results, so we can’t wait to see the success of the brand in the coming months!
